Health &
Safety Info

The organizing committee of the North American Congress on Biomechanics is committed to holding a safe and inclusive face to face conference in August 2022.  Due to the ongoing health concerns surrounding COVID-19, and the ever-changing regulations, the NACOB will be following the health and safety measures from Health Canada and the Province of Ontario that are in effect at the time of the conference.

Please click here to find the current City of Ottawa regulations.

Delegates who do not adhere to the health and safety measures may be asked to leave the conference.

Before the conference

International delegates, follow the relevant health and travel requirements for your country.  Please make note of the requirements for entering Canada and ensure compliance.

If you have been exposed to COVID-19, have symptoms, or test positive, stay home and do not attend the conference.

Arrive CAN

In order to enter Canada, all international arrivals must download the free ArriveCAN app and complete the questionnaire within 72 hours before their arrival to Canada.

This app will require you to identify how and where you are entering Canada – please have your travel details ready.

On site measures

Masks are currently (Effective June 23, 2022) not required in Ottawa except for in select businesses, health care facilities and public transportation.  It is recommended that all conference delegates wear a mask when not eating, drinking, or presenting at the podium.  Please note, masks should cover both the mouth and nose.

NACOB will have a COVID Comfort level program available for delegates to participate in.  Simply add a coloured sticker to your name badge indicating your comfort with other delegates.  Would you like people to stay 6ft/2m away?  Place a red sticker on your badge!  Handshakes and elbow bumps are welcomed?  Yellow sticker it is!  If you are comfortable with delegates being close, feel free to add a green sticker to your name badge.

The NACOB planning team and the Shaw Centre will be setting the meeting rooms to allow for as much distancing as possible, including in the poster spaces.

Hand sanitizing stations are present throughout the venue and a small selection of disposable masks will be available at the registration desk should one be requested.  In the interest of reducing environmental impact, kindly provide your own mask.

Please note, the NACOB will not have on site testing for COVID.  Should international delegates require testing prior to returning, it is recommended delegates review the requirements to return home and book tests as soon as possible.

Update: Effective July 19, fully vaccinated travellers may be selected for Mandatory Random Testing. Fully vaccinated arriving travellers from international destinations who are randomly selected for testing will be notified shortly after arriving by email, and provided with details about how to access tests. Yoy may read more about the completion of a mandatory random test here
